National Disability Insurance Scheme in Sydney
The National Disability Insurance Scheme in Sydney (NDIS) is a new way of funding services and supports for people with disability. Under the scheme, eligible participants with disability receive their own individual funding and NDIS plan to support them to achieve their specific goals and live their life the way they want.
Previously, service providers received government funding to deliver services and supports, with little choice or flexibility given to people with disability. With their own individual funding, NDIS participants can now choose the services and supports they want and the providers to deliver them. The NDIS is currently rolled out across Australia.
Free-Up Of NDIS Beds ‘Saves States Millions’
The government’s plan to clear hospital beds by getting National Disability Insurance Scheme participants discharged sooner is saving the states ‘literally millions of dollars every day’. “It’s costing Australians in hospital payments about $3 million a night,” NDIS Minister Bill Shorten said a disability plan should also be in place within a month under new benchmarks set for the agency
“The Solution Is Not To View Every Person In The NDIS As A Cost But Rather That The Money We Spend In The NDIS Is An Investment,” NDIS Minister Bill Shorten Said.
